How many NHL hockey players died as a result from legalizing fighting on the rink?

Isnt one death more than enough to ban fighting in hockey? Maybe if they can focus on actually playing the game, they wont have such horrible tv ratings. Before anyone stupid says you can die from falling on the ice or anything else,,,,,, thats a big difference. Fighting in hockey is INTENTIONAL, those other deaths are ACCIDENTAL!! ........ BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

Baseball banned the spitball because just one guy died from it. It wanst even the spitball that killed him but it was from not wearing a helmet. Do you love seeing the players get hurt and hurt each other on purpose? Just like the ancient Aztecs! How many more players have to die or become seriously injured from fighting and violence in hockey for it to be banned? Whats your opinion.
Isnt it time for hockey to move on and to be a respectable sportsmanship game and not just wild savages beating the crap out of each other?
Allowing fighting in hockey only sets a bad example on the youth.

I don't like fighting in hockey either, and I wish it weren't part of the game. I think it's a ridiculous distraction from a fabulous game, and I do think it keeps the game's popularity from growing.

But let's get one thing straight: Fighting *isn't* legal in the NHL. That's why guys get sent to the box for five minutes. The NHL's penalty for fighting just isn't as stringent as it is in international hockey, where you get kicked out of the game.

To my knowledge, however, no one has ever died from fighting on the ice.

EDIT: I love you guys, but your tolerance for fighting in hockey keeps this game from growing. Thumbs-down all you want.
